March 4, 2014
Update time! After some time on hiatus due
to other work and personal commitments, my webstrip, The
Adventures of Simone & Ajax, returns to a bi-weekly schedule
(I hope!) on March 11.

Their latest tale, "Tremblin'
Tumbleweeds," is a saga of the sagebrush (aka The Old
West). Check it out at www.simoneandajax.com.
And you can still catch up on all the earlier pages of this
story, as well as the entire previous story. You can also
follow them on Facebook
and Twitter.
And if you still haven't bought a copy of The
Adventures of Simone & Ajax book, collecting some of
their earlier adventures in color, you should soon, as this
edition will soon be going out-of-print. Please see earlier
news updates for the various ways you can order this
book.

I've also been drawing
variant covers, available exclusively at comics shops, for
Afterlife With Archie, Archie Comics' take
on zombies in Riverdale.
My cover for #1 was featured in Entertainment Weekly and
was voted by the staff and readers of First Comics News,
a comics news site, as the best
comic book cover of 2013.
I've also drawn variant covers for issues 5-8.
I drew a bookplate for the upcoming Nelvana
of the Northern Lights book, collecting the
adventures of Canada's greatest superhero of the 1940's.
I'm a big fan of Nelvana, so I hope you'll check out this
project.

Inking-wise, I've been keeping very busy.
I'm continuing to work on many issues of both The Simpsons
and Futurama for Bongo Comics, as well many of
the One-Shot Wonder specials, such as Milhouse,
Professor Frink, Lisa, and Duffman.
At DC/Vertigo, I continue to ink the Fables-related
comics, various issues of Fables itself and Fairest,
as well as helping out on a couple issues of Dead Boy
Detectives. And at Joe's Comics, through Image Comics,
I'm inking part of, if not all of, each issue of Protectors
Inc., starting with #2.
New things are always coming up, so for the
latest news, as well as previews of new work and more, please
"like" my Facebook
fanpage or follow me on Twitter.

My comic book convention schedule for this year is settling into place, so here's where I plan to be this year. Please click on the links for more info:
Devner Comic-Con
May 31-June 2
Heroes Con
Charlotte, NC
June 7-9
Baltimore Comic-Con
September 7-8
GrandCon Gaming & Comic Arts Convention
Grand Rapids, MI
September 20-22
Pittsburgh Comic-Con
September 27-29
Plans may change, or I may add another con, and I will try to update here. I'll be at all these cons to sign your comics, as well as have original art, prints, and my books with me. At some shows, I'll also be sketching and taking commissions.
As for a brief work update, I've been doing some of the inking on many of the recent issues of Fables, as well as an issue of Phantom Stranger, for DC Comics, inking various Simpsons and Futurama comics for Bongo, drawing a variant cover for Archie #646, and, finally, the break is about to end on my webstrip, The Adventures of Simone & Ajax, and they'll be back to their fun in the next few weeks.
August 31, 2012
While much more of an update is needed for
my other comics activities, it's time to announce that on Tuesday
September 4th The Adventures of Simone & Ajax
returns as a weekly webstrip at www.simoneandajax.com.
Every Tuesday read a new installment of their misadventures, starting
with "Hi-Seas Hijinx," a swashbuckling
saga of pirates and plunder.

To celebrate the launch of the S&A webstrip,
I'll be attending several upcoming comic-cons. First up is the
Baltimore Comic-Con
on September 8 and 9 where you'll find me in Artists Alley. There
are two special S&A tie-ins for this con. I will
be doing a special, con-exclusive, limited-edition of 100 print
of Simone & Ajax. If all 100 are sold at the
con, I will donate 20% of the proceeds to The
Hero Initiative, a good cause.
Simone & Ajax are also appearing
in a pin-up alongside the Liberty Meadows gang in the
limited-edition Liberty Meadows 15th Anniversary book
that will be available at the Con. The original art for many of
the pin-ups in this book will be auctioned off at the Con, and
while I've done Simone & Ajax sketches for fans,
this pin-up is the first finished piece of Simone & Ajax
art to ever be sold, so if you are a big fan of Simone
& Ajax, this is a rare opportunity. Also, I will donate
my half of the sale price to The Hero Initiative, so the buyer
will be supporting both the Baltimore Comic-Con and THI.

Next up is the Las
Vegas Comics Expo on September 29 and 30. You'll again find
me in the Artists Alley, where I'll have Simone & Ajax
merchandise and other original art and comics by me. After that
I'll be at the first 2 days of the New
York Comic-Con on October 11
and 12. I won't be set up there, but you might catch me at a signing
or just wandering around.

Also, earlier this year I completed
the first-ever story of my character, Monica
Moon, for inclusion in an upcoming anthology from Mansion
Comics.
However, not wanting to keep people
waiting, I've printed a limited-edition of 200 copies in
full-color available only at my con appearances for only
99c. Stop by and pick up your copy.

More on my other comics activities, including
my work on The Simpsons, Futurama,
and Fables-related titles in the next update.
July 19, 2011
After nearly a year since the last update, this one is far overdue. Before giving you the latest, I'll start out by catching up on what's happened since the last update:

The Adventures of Simone & Ajax
is still available. Written and drawn by me and published
by IDW Publishing, it's the first paperback collection of
Simone & Ajax, collecting all the recent
color stories, "Simone, Queen of the Jungle,"
"The Case of the Maltese Duck",
and "A Christmas Caper". As described
on Amazon.com:
Mix: One wacky
girl with one tiny dinosaur; Result: Big
Fun! Collects three full-color, zany tales of Simone & Ajax,
The Case of the Maltese Duck, A Christmas Caper, and Simone,
Queen of the Jungle, plus extras, by Eisner-winner, Andrew
Pepoy (FABLES, THE SIMPSONS). Intro by Mark Schultz (XENOZOIC
TALES). Critics say: bit like
the best issues of Cerebus, and a mood that harkens BONE.
Readers say: ...the look of an
Archie Comic, but the sensibilities of a Marx Brothers Movie.
You'll say: I like it!

128 pages of fun can be yours! You can find it or order it through your local comics shop or bookstore. The Diamond Distributors easy order code for comic shops is Nov090854. It's also available from online booksellers. Get yourself a copy and one for a friend.
A note about the listing at various dealers:
Some list the book as The New Adventures of Simone & Ajax
and show a different cover taken from the Maltese Duck story,
but it's all really the same book and will come with the cover
art you see here on this page.
Jack of Fables, the Vertigo/DC
Comics series I worked on (usually) since the first issue, ended
a few months ago with the double-sized 50th issue. Since then
I've continued to work on Fables itself, inking
Eric Shanower on Fables #101 and helping out
on parts of #'s 104 and 105, inking Mark Buckingham.
I also inked Norm Breyfogle on the first 7
issues of the "Archie Loves Betty" half
of Life With Archie Magazine, for Archie Comics,
and on #9 I both pencilled and inked "Archie Loves
Betty".
As I have for many years, I continued to ink
various issues of The Simpsons and Futurama
for Bongo Comics. And as that catches us up on the old work news,
I can happily say I'm still inking more comics for Bongo.
I'm also currently writing and drawing a new
Katy Keene project for Archie Comics.
Details are still to be announced, but keep an eye here for an
update soon.
Lastly, I'm drawing covers for IDW's re-issues
of the Archie Americana series of books. Each
new, larger volume collects the interiors of both volumes previously
done for each decade, the 1940s through the 1970s.
On the convention front, a piece of old news
is I attended last year's Baltimore Comic-Con, a great show, where
"Simone & Ajax: A Christmas Caper" had
been nominated for a Harvey Award for "Special Award for Humor
in Comics", which it lost, but with everyone else in the category
being so good, it really was an honor just to be nominated. I
also attended the Chicago
Comic and Entertainment Expo, or C2E2 this past spring, which
was a great time. This is shaping up into one of the great cons,
so I hope more people with travel here to Chicago to check it
out in 2012. I live here, so you know you'll find me there.
As for this year's conventions, you'll find
me at the Chicago
Comic-Con on August 11-14 in the Artists Alley. More news
on that as I have it. While for only the third time in 22 years
I'll have to miss Comic-Con International in San Diego, I do hope
to attend some more cons later in the year. I'll post that news
here.
Finally, my online art dealer is www.comiconart.com.You'll
find original pages for sale from many comics I've worked on.
New additions include new pages from Fables,
Jack of Fables, updated pricing and art from
Little Orphan Annie, and more. Also, Court, who
runs the site, will be attending Comic-Con in San Diego, so look
for his booth where you'll find many pages by me and others.
More frequent updates coming soon....
July 21, 2010
Last Minute Update: Comic-Con
International is in a few days. I'll be set up in the Artists
Alley at table BB18. Please stop by and say "HI!" I'll have lots
of original art for sale, as well as copies of my Simone
& Ajax and Katy Keene books, my limited-edition
sketchbook, Simone & Ajax t-shirts, and more.
I'll also be doing my annual Professional Networking seminar on
Thursday at 3:30 in room 30CDE, as well as appearing on Saturday
at 6:45 on the Fables panel and on Sunday at 2:00 on
the Archie Comics panel. I'll also be signing at the Archie Comics
booth on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (please see the sign in
the booth for times) and likely at the DC Comics booth at some
point. I'll also be at the Eisner Awards on Friday the 23rd where
Fables is nominated for "Best Series".
And, speaking of awards, The Adventures
of Simone & Ajax: A Christmas Caper, has just been nominated
in the 2010
Harvey Awards for the "Special Award for Humor in Comics".
I'm especially excited about this nomination as it's the first
time Simone & Ajax have been nominated for an award. The story
is available in print in the IDW book collection, The
Adventures of Simone & Ajax and free to read online at ComicMix.
The awards are given out at the Baltimore
Comic-Con, August 28 and 29, which I'll be attending. If you're
a comics professional, please visit the Harveys
online and vote. I'll be sure to post here if any of my nominations,
for Eisners, Hugos, or Harveys, wins.
April
18, 2010
After just posting the latest news last week, here's a special update:
Once again, Fables has been
nominated for an Eisner Award for "Best Continuing Series" (Fables,
by Bill Willingham, Mark Buckingham, Steve Leialoha, Andrew Pepoy
et al. (Vertigo/DC)). The Awards will be given out on Friday,
July 23, at Comic-Con International in SanDiego. A
full list of the nominees can be found here.
Also, on sale this week is Dan DeCarlo's
Jetta, collecting all of Dan DeCarlo's (and other creators')
work on the wacky adventures of Jetta, a teen-ager in the future
as seen when these were created in the 1950s. This is the first
volume in editor Craig Yoe's "The Good Girl Art Library", published
through IDW Publishing. Besides the classic comics, there are
37 new pin-ups of Jetta done by a wide variety of modern creators.
Here on this page you can see shots of the book cover and the
pin-up I contributed (with colors by Jason Millet). For
more on the book please click here. You can buy the book at
better bookstores and comic shops, as well as from Amazon.

Some list the book as The New Adventures of Simone & Ajax

but it's all really the same book and will come with the cover

In other comics news, I'm continuing to ink
Jack of Fables for DC/Vertigo and occasionally
helping on Fables, too. I recently inked an issue
of Futurama for Bongo and am working on stories for the Simpsons
Summer Shindig and Simpsons Super Spectacular.
I've also inked my first graphic novel for the European market,
Lanfeust
Odyssey t.1, from Soleil, continuing the hit series of Lanfeust
books. I've also just finished inking a spin-off, Alunys
de Troy, and will then ink LO t.2. I'll
also soon be inking a special mini-series for Archie Comics, Archie
Loves Betty. More on that and some other big news in
an update to be posted soon.
Convention season is kicking in, so here are my current (though subject to change) plans for the coming months:
April 16-18: Chicago
Comic and Entertainment Expo(aka C2E2) in Chicago. I'll be
set up in Artists Alley as well as likely doing signings at DC
and elsewhere.
July 21-25: Comic-Con International in San Diego, CA. I'll be set up in Artists
Alley as well as likely doing signings at DC and elsewhere.
August 19-22: Chicago Comic-Con in Rosemont, IL. Currently not planning on setting
up there, but I will likely be doing signings at DC and other
booths.
October 8-10: New
York Comic-Con in New York City. Plans will be posted later.
I may add other shows later.
And with convention season comes awards season.
For the 2nd year running, Fables has been nominated
for a Hugo Award in
the Best Graphic Story category: Fables Vol
12: The Dark Ages Written by Bill Willingham; Pencilled
by Mark Buckingham; Art by Peter Gross & Andrew Pepoy, Michael
Allred, David Hahn; Colour by Lee Loughridge & Laura Allred; Letters
by Todd Klein (Vertigo Comics). The award will be given out at
this year's Worldcon, Aussiecon 4, in Melbourne, Australia in
September.
For the first time in several years I'm able
to do a planned signing for Free
Comic Book Day, so I'll be appearing at Amazing
Fantasy Books and Comics in Frankfort, IL on Saturday May
1 along with my long-time friend and fellow artist, Bill
Reinhold. We each have
work in one of the FCBD giveaways, so please stop by for one of
those and some of the other great samples.
The
Hero Initiative, a great non-profit charity dedicated to giving
a helping hand to comic book creators, is doing another of their
"Covers" projects. You may have seen their past projects of 100
different hand-drawn covers for special issues of Wolverine, Spider-Man,
and more, but this time they're doing a special edition of Archie
#600. Fifty different creators have been given copies of the book
with a blank cover and will draw an original cover to the book
on it. These will then be auctioned off and a book will be published
collecting them all. I'm fortunate to have been asked to be part
of the stellar roster of artists. I'll be doing a Katy
Keene-themed cover, since she is an Archie character
and I've done lots of work on her, which I'll be posting here
when I get it done. Please keep an eye on the H.I.
website for more info on the auctions and book. You
can read more about this and see a few of the covers by clicking
here.
On a non-work but still-comics note, in the
latest issue of Comics Buyer's Guide (aka CBG),
#1665, which is on sale now, you'll find their usual "Top
10 Favorite Comic Book Covers" feature, this month chosen
by me. Instead of the impossible task of picking the 10 best ever,
I went with the theme of picking 10 favorite covers that have
always stuck with me because they were turning points for me and
my love of comics, books that because that cover grabbed me and
got me to buy it a new door was opened to me to another aspect
of comics.
Finally, my online art dealer, www.comiconart.com,
is building me a new page on their site, so if it's not up by
the time you read this, it will soon be. You'll find original
pages for sale from many comics I've worked on. New additions
include new pages from Fables, Jack of
Fables, updated pricing and art from Little Orphan
Annie, and more.
Remember to check back soon for some updates and announcements.
Special
Update: January 25, 2010
If you're planning on running down to your
comics shop this week to pick up The
Adventures of Simone & Ajax, the first-ever book collection
of Simone & Ajax, I'm sorry to say that
due to unavoidable production delays it will now be on sale on
Wednesday February 17th. It's only 3 weeks, so please be patient.
I hope you'll think it's worth the wait.
As well, to celebrate the book's debut, I'll
be doing a signing on Saturday February 20th from noon to 3pm
at Challengers Comics,
1845 N. Western Ave., in Chicago. I'll be happy to sign copies
of the Simone & Ajax book or any comics
of mine. The latest Fables collection, The
Great Fables Crossover, goes on sale a week earlier,
so bring your copies of that, too. Both books will be available
for sale at the shop. I'll also be bringing along original art
pages for sale. See you there!

Time for another overdue news update here
at Pepoy.com. To follow up on some of the previous update, I won
an Eisner Award, for "Best Short Story", this past summer as part
of the team on "Murder He Wrote," by Ian Boothby, Nina Matsumoto,
and me, from The Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror
#14 (Bongo Comics). What a great way to mark my 20th anniversary
in the business! You can see a video of our award at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctrX9FANxko.
Big Simone & Ajax news! The
daring duo will return online at ComicMix.com

a brand-new 45-page graphic-novel, a holiday of tale of big business
trying to muscle in on Santa and the Season. Check it out starting

mix-up. I'll post the start date and a direct link as soon as
it's confirmed.

128 pages of fun can be yours! You can order
it through your local comics shop. It's listed in the November
issue of Previews. Ask them to order extras for the shop. The
Diamind Distributors easy order code for comic shops is Nov090854.
It's also available from online booksellers and can be pre-ordered
right now at a discount at Amazon.com. Click
here to go right to it. Get yourself a copy and one for a
friend. It'll be on sale too late for the Holiday Season (though
there's always next year), but it makes a great gift for Valentine's
Day or Lincoln's Birthday. Can't get to New Orleans for Fat Tuesday?
Put on your plastic beads and have a great time reading Simone
& Ajax.
A collection of all the earlier, black-and-white
S&A comics is planned for later in 2010.
In other news, I've written and drawn a 1-page
"Angel & the Ape" story for the 2009
DC Comics Holiday Special, on sale in December. I'm a
big fan of the cult 1960's A&A series and a huge
fan of its artists, Bob Oksner and Wally Wood. Both are influences
on my work, but I was lucky enough to know Bob. It's a big thrill
for me to get a chance to try my hand at these characters. If
you like it, please write to the editors at DC and ask for more.
I'm continuing to ink Jack of Fables
for DC/Vertigo, occasionally helping on Fables,
too, and inking most issues of Futurama for Bongo.
I've also inked my first graphic novel for the European market,
Lanfeust
Odyssey t.1, from Soleil, continuing the hit series of Lanfeust
books. I'll also be inking tome 2 and a spin-off, Alunys
de Troy.
And lastly, looking for that unique gift for
the comics fan? There's plenty of original art available from
Fables, GI Joe, and more from
my online art dealer, Comicon Art.
I'll be back soon with more details on Simone
& Ajax online and in print!
July
19 , 2009
It's that time again, the down-to-the-wire
news update before Comic-Con International in San Diego. I'll
be there this week, July 22-26, at the San Diego Convention Center.
Click here for all the info. You'll
find me in Artists Alley, table KK-19 where I'll be selling original
art, Simone & Ajax t-shirts, and my brand-new
limited-edition 20th-Anniversary Sketchbook. This month marks
20 years for me as comics pro, so I've put together a collection
of drawings taken from various things I've worked on over the
years, plus some brand new pin-ups and new, color front and back
covers. For those of you who can't attend and want a sketchbook
or t-shirt, I'll be posting mail-order info here after both Comic-Con
and the soon-to-follow Chicago Comic-Con. Also in San Diego you'll
sometimes find me signing, along with fellow Fables
creators, at the Vertigo table in the DC Comics booth. I'll also
be on the Fables panel on Saturday from
4:45-5:45 in room 6DE. And, as usual, I'll be teaching my Professional
Networking Seminar on Thursday from 3:30-4:30 in room 30CDE. And
for you Simpsons fans, stop by Bongo Comics, booth 2519, to get
the limited-edition collection of the recent Radioactive
Man crossover-event, which I inked, available only at
the convention. The whole team on this one will also be doing
a signing at Exhibit A Press, booth 1909, on Friday from 1-2pm.
Also at the con will be the Eisner Awards.
I'm lucky to have been a part of some comics that have now been
nominated for some very big awards. The Eisner Awards, one of
the biggest awards in comics, has nominated Fables
for Best Continuing Series ( by Bill Willingham, Mark Buckingham,
Steve Leialoha, Niko Henrichon, Andrew Pepoy, and Peter Gross
(Vertigo/DC)). As well, "Murder He Wrote," by Ian Boothby, Nina
Matsumoto, and me, from The Simpsons' Treehouse of
Horror #14 (Bongo Comics) has been nominated for
Best Short Story. A
full list of nominees can be found here. The Eisner Awards
will be given out on Friday, July 24 at Comic-Con International
in San Diego.
Soon after that con, I'll be in Artists Alley
at the Chicago Comic-Con (formerly Wizard World Chicago, formerly,
and I never stopped calling it this, the Chicago Comic-Con) August
6-9 in Rosemont, IL. Click
here for more info. Not sure where I'll be set up, so check
the program when you get there. Again, I'll have art, t-shirts,
and sketchbooks.
And lastly for this year,
I'll be at the Windy City Comic-Con in Chicago on Saturday
September 19th. I'll try to post more info on that later.
As for work, I've just finished the last issue
of my run on Fables with #87 and am
returning to inking Jack of Fables with
#38. Also, having finished the Radioactive Man
cross-over, I'm now back to inking several issues of Futurama
for Bongo. And more details on this later, but I'll be inking
3 graphic novels for the major French publisher, Soleil. More
Simone & Ajax news soon as things are firmed
up, but they will be returning online to ComicMix.com in November
and in print from IDW in January. In the meantime, you can read
all their earlier adventures for FREE online at ComicMix.com.
Click
here for all the classic black-and-white stories leading up
to the first of the new, color comics.
Click

I look forward to meeting some of you at the conventions.

full list of the nominees can be found here, and the awards
will be given out at this year's Worldcon, Anticipation, in Montreal
in August.
I'll be sure to post it here if we win any of these awards.
Special Announcement: I
March
27, 2009
As announced today, ComicMix, the online publisher
of "The Adventures of Simone & Ajax", has joined
forces with IDW Publishing.
What does this mean for Simone & Ajax?
It means that sometime soon you'll be able to buy regular, printed
book versions of all the Simone & Ajax comics
at comics shops, bookstores, and online, released through IDW.
It also means that soon Simone & Ajax will again
be appearing online for free at ComicMix.com with all-new adventures.
The exact details of when and where have yet
to be announced, so keep checking back here for all the latest
news, but in the meantime you can read the official ComicMix
announcement here.
February 13, 2009
It's been far too long since the last update, so let's get right to the news.
It was good meeting some of you at the New
York Comic-Con on February 6-8. If you couldn't make this
con, this year I'm planning to be at the Comic-Con International
in San Diego, Wizard World Chicago, and The
Windy City Comic-Con in Chicago, plus maybe another couple.
I'll post details on those later. You'll find me in the Artists
Alley, where I'll be glad to sign your comics and will also be
selling original art from Fables, Jack
of Fables, Katy Keene, G.I.
Joe and many more. I'll also have the new Simone
& Ajax t-shirts. Stop by if you're there.
Having helped out last year on Fables
#73-75, I've been inking Fables regularly for
a while, doing issues 77-81 and 83-85, as well as the upcoming
mini-series, Fables: The Literals. After that
I'll return to Jack of Fables. As well, I'm continuing
to ink for Bongo Comics, working on Futurama
and various Simpsons titles, including a special
3-issue "Radioactive Man" story that will run in 3 "Simpsons"
titles all in June: The Simpsons #155, Bart
Simpson #48 and Simpsons Super Spectacular
#9.
The Katy Keene paperback collection, "Katy
Keene: Model Behavior", is now on sale. It collects
all 10 stories that ran in Archie & Friends
plus an all-new 22-pager written and drawn by me, plus promotional
art, all behind a new front-cover by me. You can buy it
now at your local comics shop or order it online from Amazon.com
or from www.archiecomics.com.
Some news that got missed was that "The
Hourglass", the superhero tap-dance opera I co-wrote
with Mark Yonally of the Chicago
Tap Theatre, and which last summer wrapped up a second
successful run at the CTT, went to New York as part of the
prestigious New York Musical Theatre Festival.
It's one of the few non-NY-area shows to be invited.

Maybe you're asking "What about 'The
Adventures of Simone & Ajax'"? (At least I hope you're
asking). S&A wrapped up its first "season" with
the conclusion of their first original, full-color graphic-novel,
"The Case of the Maltese Duck" available online
for free at www.ComicMix.com.
For your convenience, here are direct links to all the Simone
& Ajax comics on ComicMix:
all the classic black-and-white stories leading up to the first of the new, color comics.
Click
here to go directly to all the chapters of "The Case
of the Maltese Duck."
The previously announced Simone &
Ajax Christmas-themed, online graphic-novel is actually
well along, entirely written and about two-thirds drawn, but due
to unforeseen circumstances was not able to be completed as planned
to run this past year. Unfortunately, being as Santa-themed stories
don't go over so well at other times of the year, it will be the
end of this year before you'll see it online.
Hopefully I'll have news to post soon about
other Simone & Ajax stories and exciting events.
Keep checking back here or the Simone
& Ajax homepage for more
news and previews. Please click any of the images below for a
larger version.
And remember, all these Simone & Ajax
comics (plus several other series) are available for FREE online,
with no membership or sign-up needed, at www.ComicMix.com.
Please click on any of the thumbnails below for a larger image
of these new Simone & Ajax pages, the last of
them being a sneak-peak at the first page of the next story.

Finally, I've continued to add pages to my
original art sales page at Comiccon
Art, where you'll find pages from Jack of Fables,
Katy Keene, and more. And if you're wondering
about Simone & Ajax originals, I'll
begin selling those for the first time pretty soon.
That's it for now, so please check out the
new Simone
& Ajax comics at ComicMix. Thanks!
SPECIAL
UPDATE (Updated 23rd July 2008)
My apologies to anyone who came looking for
me at Wizard World Chicago. I'm afraid deadlines
kept me from spending much time there this year. These same deadlines
are also the reason I'll be missing Comic-Con International
in San Diego this year, only the 2nd time I've missed in 18 years.
I'll be sure to be back next year. ComicMix
will be exhibiting there, so please stop by and say "Hi" and let
them know you're enjoying Simone
& Ajax and want to see more. I'm hoping to arrange
to sell the new, full-color S&A t-shirts at their
booth. You'll find them alongside Insight Studios, at booth 2308.

The Katy Keene paperback
collection, "Katy
Keene: Model Behavior", is done and the book will be out in
August. It collects all 10 stories that ran in Archie
& Friends plus an all-new 22-pager written and drawn
by me and promotional art, all behind new front and back-covers

pre-order

I'm still inking Jack of Fables
for DC/Vertigo. The third
Trade paperback collection will be out in June. I've also
been helping out on some recent issues of Fables,
#73-75. As well, I'm continuing my run on Futurama
for Bongo Comics. Besides inking the new issues, some of my earlier
issues will soon be collected into books, so please keep an eye
out for those. Also inked a story for an upcoming Simpsons
Super Spectacular.

Convention season is here, so you'll find
me in the Artists Alleys at both Wizard
World Chicago, June 26-29, and Comic-Con
International in San Diego, July 23-27. I'll be selling art,
Simone & Ajax t-shirts, and maybe prints, as
well as signing comics and chatting, so please stop by. I will
post news as to where I'll be at those shows or any other shows,
so please check back again later or check the program guides online
or when you get there. I'll also be doing my usual "Professional
Networking" seminar in San Diego on Thursday the 24th. Again,
please check programming updates for exact time and location.
This summer the Chicago
Tap Theatre presents an expanded and revised version of The
Hourglass in "The Stop-Time Chronicles", a superhero
tap dancing opera, which I co-wrote, running for 5 weeks starting
Friday June 27, so it will be running the weekend of Wizard
World Chicago. Think about checking it out if you're
in town. Some other big news about this show coming soon.
Finally, I've continued to add pages to my
original art sales page at Comiccon
Art, where you'll find pages from Jack of Fables,
Katy Keene, and more. And if you're wondering
about Simone & Ajax originals, I'll
begin selling those for the first time pretty soon.

April 10, 2008 : New York Comic-Con
I will be attending the New
York Comic-Con, April 18-20. You can find me at my spot in
Artists Alley, Table J-31. I'll be glad to sign
your comics and chat. I'll also have tons of original art pages
with me from Jack of Fables, G.I. Joe and other
titles for sale.
On Sunday I'll be on the Archie Comics panel
and maybe the Vertigo panel on Friday. I may also be doing signings
at the DC Comics booth, but no firm times yet. Hope to see some
of you there.
February 02, 2008
Starting Thursday February 7, "The
Adventures of Simone & Ajax" goes full-color with the
first of their ALL-NEW tales, available online for free at www.ComicMix.com
or click
here to go directly to the Simone & Ajax comics.
We meet up with S&A right where the last of their
old stories left off for 3 weeks of "Simone, Queen of the
Jungle". After that will be a 10-week serial of the first
Simone & Ajax graphic novel, "The Case of
the Maltese Duck", with more to come beyond that as Simone
& Ajax meet up with Pirates. Please note that Simone
& Ajax will now be updated on Thursdays instead

AND YET ANOTHER SPECIAL UPDATE:
Podcast Interview: Comics
Coast to Coast's latest podcast features an interview with
me talking about my work on Simone & Ajax,
"Katy Keene", and more, as well as my
influences and other comics. I'm usually embarrassed by my interviews
after I hear myself, but I think this one turned out well, so
I hope you'll give it a listen. You can download it through iTunes
or directly from www.comicscoasttocoast.com
by scrolling down the page to the description and clicking on
the "listen" button at the bottom of my paragraph (Episode 27).
Hope you like it.
December 19, 2007
ANOTHER SPECIAL UPDATE:
Time for another special update, and TIME is the word, as Jack
of Fables Vol. 1: The (Nearly) Great Escape, which I
inked, has been named Time Magazine's #5 graphic novel of 2007.
Click
here to check out the story. And of course you can check out
the book itself at your local book or comics shop.
Meanwhile, work continues on the new stories
of The Adventures of Simone & Ajax,
which will start running online at ComicMix
in February. Please visit the
Simone & Ajax homepage for a preview. In the meantime, you
can still read another classic Simone & Ajax
each Saturday at ComicMix,
including a couple recently-posted Simone & Ajax
Holiday mini-comics even the biggest S&A
fan likely hasn't seen before, so please check 'em out.
A full update coming in January!
October 07, 2007
SPECIAL UPDATE: "The
Adventures of Simone & Ajax" is now available online
at www.ComicMix.com, or click
here to go straight to the S&A page.
Please read below for more info on what's in store for S&A
and their new online home. And please check back on ComicMix
each Saturday for more of the classic S&A
tales, leading up to all-new color stories early next year.
And besides visiting here for S&A
news, you can also check out the start of the new Simone
& Ajax webpage at www.simoneandajax.com
or by clicking on the S&A logo on the
first page of www.pepoy.com.
There are just a couple of preview images there now, but I'll
be adding more soon.
Lastly, I forgot to mention in my previous
post that I've continued to add pages to my original art sales
page at www.comiconart.com/AndrewPepoy.html,
where you'll find pages from Jack of Fables,
Katy Keene, and more. And if you're wondering
about Simone & Ajax originals, I'll
begin selling those for the first time pretty soon.
October 01, 2007
It's BIG NEWS time, so ... The Adventures
of Simone & Ajax is back! I've been hinting at this for
a while now, and now I can finally tell you more. Hopefully most
of you have seen S&A (I'll shorten it to that
for the rest of this) in comic books or here on the website, but
if not, you can read the series proposal by clicking on the S&A
logo at pepoy.com. S&A
have joined the newly-announced line of comics that will be appearing
at ComicMix online (www.comicmix.com).
Please check their site out for more info on the whole line. Their
pop-culture newssite is already there, along with a podcast interview
with me, and the comics line goes live there Tuesday, October
2, with S&A debuting on Saturday October 6th. Each day ComicMix
will adding new comics to the site, each of the features being
updated weekly, so that means a new installment of S&A every
Saturday. Eventually I'll post how to add a direct link to the
S&A comics to your favorite sites list and even
how to make the S&A comics page your homepage.
Best of all, its FREE! No memberships or even
a sign-up. Just free comics all the time, so as someone who had
enough interest in my work to visit this site I hope you'll check
it out each week. And while it's free for you, just by clicking
on each page of my comics at ComicMix.com (and hopefully reading
them while you're there), you're supporting me and the site. And
please tell your friends about it. The more people checking out
my pages, the better, so please visit often, … weekly, daily,
every few minutes even.
And what will you find there? First up will
be all the classic Simone & Ajax adventures
in glorious black-&-white to get you up to speed. Maybe
you read them before, but try 'em again … I bet there are
a few stories you missed. After that will start all-new
S&A tales in, for the first time, full
color! My good friend Jason Millet joins me as colorist,
so now Ajax will be green, the lemmings will be yellowish,
and Simone will be colorful in more than personality. First
up will be a two-parter, Simone, Queen of the
Jungle, followed by the first feature-length
S&A graphic novel, The Case
of the Maltese Duck, serialized over 10 weeks
(click on the preview image left for a larger view) and
then a novel-length pirate swashbuckler. After that? I have
many more S&A tales I'd like to tell, but
you hold the fate of S&A
in your hands. If enough of you visit the S&A
pages at the ComicMix
site, the kind people there will keep S&A
going, so please visit often, tell everyone you know, anyone
you just happen to see, whatever it takes to get the word
out. |

Now you may be thinking, "But I don't like
to read comics online" (though that will change once you see the
nifty new way ComicMix has
come up with) or "But I want a nicely printed Simone &
Ajax book I can take anywhere." Well, ComicMix
will quickly follow the online version with book versions that
will be available at your local comics shop, bookstore, or online
bookseller. So please read S&A online for free
first and follow it up by adding it to your library.
OK, now you know the news. Remember…
Saturday October 6th! I hope you'll enjoy the
comics. I'll be glad to hear what you think of them. Thanks for
reading this long post. I promise the comics will be much more
fun.
And just case you're wondering, I will be
continuing my work on Jack of Fables and for
Bongo Comics, plus doing a little more Katy Keene.
On DC/Vertigo's Jack of Fables I'm inking through
#15, with a guest artist on #16, and then continuing on from #17.
For Bongo I'll be inking Futurama at least through
#35, as well as part of this year's Treehouse of Horror
special, plus a "Ralph Wiggum" story and a long
"Radioactive Man" adventure. And for you "Katy
Keene" fans, I'm writing and drawing a new 22-pager telling
the story of how Katy went from smalltown girl to superstar, which
will appear early next year in a paperback collection of all 10
Katy stories from Archie & Friends, plus all
the pin-ups and paperdolls, all topped off by a new cover, published
by Archie Comics.
I'll be posting again soon with more Simone
& Ajax news and anything else new. Thanks for visiting
June 07, 2007
Summer's here, so it's time for another update on what I've been working on and what's coming soon. Last time I mentioned some big news. Here it is: The Adventures of Simone & Ajax are back! I'll be writing and drawing all-new stories of the adventurous duo soon, but that's all I can say about it for now. Believe me, I wish I could say more, but as soon as I can, you'll read it here.
I'm continuing to ink Jack of Fables for DC/Vertigo, even penciling half of #10, as well. After skipping #11, a new story begins in #12, and starting with that issue, one of my all-time favorites, Brian Bolland, becomes the cover artist. Also, after inking parts of a number of issues of Fables, I've inked a full issue, #62, on sale soon.
I'm continuing my work on Bongo's Futurama at least through #34, as well as inking Bart Simpson #37, an upcoming issue of The Simpsons (the Simpsons Internationale Special), plus some other short stories for them.
As for Katy Keene, she makes her last story appearance in Archie & Friends #110, with a couple pin-ups slotted for future A&F issues. I'm working on an all-new 22 pager of Katy, telling the story of how she went from smalltown girl to mega-star. News on where you can find that, as well as more Katy news, coming soon.
I've also penciled a Wallace & Gromit story for an upcoming issue of Wallace & Gromit Comics Magazine, from Titan Publishing. While easy to find on UK newsstands everywhere, it may be hard to find in the US, but it can be special ordered through your local comics shop.
I'm continuing to add art to my art sales
page, which you can find at the following link: www.comiconart.com/AndrewPepoy.html.
Original pages from Jack of Fables, Katy Keene,
G.I. Joe, Sonic the Hedgehog, and more are available.
Outside of comics, I've been helping plot
and design a superhero tap-dance opera, The Hourglass
in the Stop-Time Chronicles, which will be performed
by the Chicago Tap Theatre every weekend in July. See this link
for more info on the show, to see the poster I drew, and for how
to buy tickets: http://www.chicagotaptheatre.com/events/hourglass-stop-time-chronicles.
And finally, being summer, it's convention
season, so I'll be going to three conventions: The Comic-Con
International on July 25-29 in San Diego; Wizard
World Chicago on August 9-12; and the Baltimore
Comic-Con on Sept. 8 and 9. At these last two, I'll have a
table in the Artists Alley where I'll be selling art and comics
by me, signing whatever comics you bring along, and just chatting
in general. In San Diego, I'll be teaching my usual Professional
Networking seminar, plus will be appearing on several panels.
More on that as I know.
That's it for now. I'll try to post more news on the conventions and on Simone & Ajax soon. Thanks for checkin' in!
February
16, 2007
Hi! I've been holding off posting the news as I've been waiting for the OK to post some news on something I've been working on for a while, but since that's not ready and there is other news, here's what's new:
I'll be attending the New
York Comic-Con on February 23-25 and will have a table in
Artists Alley, table A218, sharing it with Rob Walton, creator
of Ragmop. I'll have art and comics with me.
Please stop by and say Hi!
Later in the year I'll be at the Comic-Con
in San Diego and at Wizard World Chicago. More on those later.
New art is being added to my art sales page,
at www.comiconart.com/AndrewPepoy.html.
Now on to the comics:
Continuing to ink Jack of Fables for DC/Vertigo. #7 is on sale now and starts a new story arc about Jack in Las Vegas. And the first book collection of Jack of Fables comes out in this month, so you'll be able to find that not only in comics shops but in bookstores, Amazon, etc. I've also done my first pencilling for the Fables line, contributing a short segment for Fables #59, on sale soon.
Over at Bongo I'm continuing to work on Futurama,
inking the now-on-sale #29, as well as #30 and 31.
Katy Keene, which I'm continuing
to write and draw, will appear in Archie & Friends
at least through #110. #106, on sale now, features Katy and her
sister, MacKenzie, getting ready for Mac's big high school dance.
#107 tells of Katy filming the sequel to The Web (as
mentioned in Katy's first new story in A&F #101), The
Web Returns, in which we get to see the return of the Mighty
Hero, The Web, though here played by actor, Topher McWire. And
in #108 Katy visits Las Vegas.
Also now on sale is a short story featuring Liberty Girl that I pencilled and inked, which appears in Heroic Publishing's Anthem #4. Some of these pages have been added to the portfolio page, along with new Katy Keene art.
There are a few other things in the works that I hope to be able to post soon.
Thanks for checking in!
November
28, 2006
Hi, everyone! We're getting to the end of the year, so it's about time for
another update. I've been keeping busy lately, but....
We interrupt this news with an important commercial
announcement: Many readers have asked about buying originals,
and while I've done what I could to answer emails and work out
deals, I just haven't been able to keep up. So, I'm happy to announce
that Court Gebeau is now repping my art online and has set up
a webpage where you can find every page of comic book art, comics
strips, drawings, I have for sale: www.comiconart.com/AndrewPepoy.html.
Court will be happy to answer your emails and work out deals.
Also, I'm still not taking any commissions, but will post here
when I'm able to. Now, back to the news....
Here's what I've been working on:
Katy Keene, which I'm continuing
to write and draw, will appear in Archie & Friends
at least through #108. #105 is just on sale now and features Katy
doing a bikini photoshoot in Central America. #106 features Katy
and her sister, MacKenzie, getting ready for Mac's big high school
dance. #107 tells of Katy filming the sequel to The Web
(as mentioned in Katy's first new story in A&F #101), The
Web Returns, in which we get to see the return of the Mighty
Hero, The Web, though here played by actor, Topher McWire. And
in #108 Katy visits Las Vegas.
I'm contuing to ink Jack of Fables
for DC/Vertigo, as well as helping out on the inks on
Fables #53-56. #56 is a special holiday issue
featuring Santa Claus. And the first book collection of Jack
of Fables comes out in February, so you'll be able to
find that not only in comics shops but in bookstores, Amazon,
etc.
Also inking lots for Bongo Comics.
I've been inking short stories for The Simpsons,
Bart Simpson, The Simpsons Winter Wingding,
and upcoming special, Simpsons Internationale.
I've also inked a number of full issues of Futurama,
#'s 27-29.
Another chance for me to pencil as well as
ink was a short story featuring Liberty Girl
that will appear in Heroic Publishing's Anthem
#4 in January. I also got a chance to reunite with Patrick Zircher,
who I hadn't worked with since the cancellation of the original
run of New Warriors, for a cover for Marvel's
Cable/Deadpool #36.
Coming up I'll be continuing work on Jack
of Fables, Katy Keene, and The
Simpsons, plus, I'm hoping, something exciting that I'm
hoping I can spill the beans on soon. Keep checking back.
And despite my best plans, I've been too busy
to update the art and portfolio sections of this site, but I'll
keep hoping to do so soon.
Thanks for checking in here, and I hope whatever year-end holiday festivities
you have planned are the best.
-Andrew
August 21, 2006
Hi! A full update coming soon, but I wanted
to let you know that there's a new interview with me at The
Pulse news section of www.comicon.com about the new Katy
Keene comics I'm writing and drawing. Please
click here to take a look.
Also, keep checking out www.katykeene.com
for my first-ever podcast interview which I'll be recording soon.
Thanks!
June

Hi, Everyone! Time for another update. It
looks to be a busy summer. First up, out in comic shops on June
14th is Archie & Friends #101, which will feature
the first of the new series of Katy Keene stories
that I'm writing and drawing for Archie Comics.
See my portfolio section for a few pages and please visit www.katykeene.com,
Katy's official website at Archie Comics. Katy will continue at
least through #105. I hope you'll check it out and let Archie
know you want to see more.
Next up will be Jack of Fables #1,
out on July 26, the start of the monthly spin-off series from
Fables, on which I'm inking Tony Akins. See the
previous update for more info.
If you can't wait, there will be a preview of Jack in Fables
#50, on which I also inked Mark Buckingham on part of
the lead-feature.
The Duck Tales paperback collection for
which I inked an unpublished Carl Barks cover will also be on
sale in July. It's volume 2 and from Gemstone Publications.
I'll be appearing at several conventions this
summer. Come look for me in the artists alley section at Heroes
Con, June 30-July2, in Charlotte, NC, and at Wizard
World Chicago, August 3-6, and in the exhibitor's section,
booth G-4, at Comic-Con International
in San Diego, CA, July 19-24. I'll be selling pages from Katy
Keene, GI Joe, Scooby Doo,
Robin, Sonic, and many other
comics I've worked on and will be glad to sign for free whatever
comics of mine you bring along.
I'll also be signing, along with penciller,
Tony Akins, Jack of Fables #1 on the day it comes
out, July 26, at Comix Revolution in Evanston,
IL, and at Graham Crackers Lincoln Park in Chicago.

Happy New Year, Everyone! Happy Valentine's Day, too! After far too long, I'm finally updating and adding to my site. In the coming weeks you'll see lots of art added to the portfolio section, plus more news updates.
I had a great time at the San
Diego Comic-Con International last summer. One of the highlights was
meeting Freshmen co-creators Seth Green and Hugh Sterbakov
and doing some signings with them and penciller Leonard Kirk at the Top
Cow booth. For a photo of all of us, along with much more about the
hit mini-series The
Freshmen, please check out Hugh's official Freshmen site
at www.freshmencomic.com.
Are you a fan of Fables, from DC/Vertigo Comics? Then you'll be happy to know that coming this spring will be the spin-off monthly-series, Jack
of Fables, co-written by Fables creator, Bill Willingham, with pencils by Tony Akins and inks by me. Looks to be a great series, so please watch for it.
My Katy Keene story has been re-scheduled
for Archie & Friends #101, out in May. And some big news is
that Archie Comics have asked me to write and draw two more Katy stories,
the first of which will appear in Archie & Friends
#102. I'll post the info here once the title and issue number of
the third story is confirmed. Hopefully there will be more to follow. Please
visit
Archie's website at www.archiecomics.com and let them know
you want to see more Katy Keene.
Visit this link to read
an interview with Katy Keene editor, Mike
Pellerito, find out more about Katy and see more art from the series.
Also, a really fun book I did a few years back with good
friends, writer Dan Slott and penciller James Fry, will finally be seeing
print this spring. Big
Max #1, the adventures of a masked, super-powered gorilla and his
monkey sidekick, who in this issue battles a super-mime in Central Park,
will be out in March, published by Mr. Comics (www.mrcomics.ca).
Reserve your copy now!
Other recent and current work:
- Wrapped up work on The Freshmen, as well as inking Witchblade #94 and 95, for Top Cow
- Inked a story written by Alan Moore and pencilled by Rick
Veitch for Tomorrow Stories Special #2, from ABC/DC Comics
- Continuing to ink issues of Sonic X for Archie Comics
- Inked Futurama #23 and 24 and various Bart
Simpson stories
for Bongo Comics, plus some Chief Wiggum stories and more Simpsons and Futurama coming soon.
- Inked parts of Fables #44 and 45 for Vertigo/DC
Comics.
- Inked an unpublished Carl Barks "Uncle Scrooge" cover
(wow!), which will appear as the cover for an upcoming Duck Tales paperback,
from Gemstone Comics.
That's it for now. I promise to update this site again soon with more news and some more art. Thanks for taking a look!
P.S. Phil Moores, who's been doing such a great job
building this site, has, along with his wife Kate, started a new business
making and selling handmade bath products like soaps, fizzes and bath melts.
It’s all really good stuff and makes great gifts. They’re based
in the UK and I’m
not sure where they ship to, but check out their website at www.oakwood-aromatics.com
